Math Facts Extravaganza For Kingsford Park Fourth Graders Set September 11

OSWEGO, NY – Kingsford fourth graders better have their math facts prepared as just two days after the opening of the new school year the “Math Facts Extravaganza” will explode.

Teacher Kelly Moxley said, “Basic math facts will come quickly for children entering the fourth grade.”

Gift cards will be distributed to the top three finishers in the back-to-school “Math Facts Extravaganza” at Kingsford Park Elementary School. Teacher-coordinator Kelly Moxley is joined by her daughter, Tianna Moxley, and Christie Schrader of Man in the Moon Candies along with Emil Christman from river’s end bookstore as the businesses they work for are joining with Wal-Mart to present awards to the individual winners.

At the beginning of the summer the teachers sent home math flash cards for students to study with during the dog days of summer.

The youngsters also had access to a multiplication chart.

She encouraged all parents to work with their children throughout the summer months.

Joining her in this joint effort are two other fourth grade teachers at Kingsford Park Lois Graber and Cheryl Beck.

Moxley continued, “As we do every summer we encourage our students to read and practice math facts. This year we decided to conduct a ‘Math Facts Extravaganza’ and the contest will be held on Sept. 11.”

The entire fourth grade will take a time math facts test.

The class with the most correct answers will win a gigantic pizza party.

The fourth grade teacher noted, “The student with the most correct answers will win a total of $25 worth of gift cards from the river’s end bookstore, Man in the Moon Candies and Wal-Mart. Second place winner will received a total of $210 worth of give cards from the same three business while the third place finisher will received $15 in gift cards.”

Moxley said, “I want to send a special ‘thank you’ to river’s end bookstore, Man in the Moon Candies and Wal-Mart for their help in supporting the education of our students at the Kingsford Park Elementary School.”
