Mercedes Niess Thanks Rotarians For Support

OSWEGO, NY – On Dec. 9, Mercedes Niess, executive director of the H. Lee White Marine Museum, told the Oswego Sunrise Rotary about the new programs and exhibits at the museum.

The Derrick Boat has been restored with New York Canal paint colors.

The Eleanor D. restoration is in progress.

If you have not visited recently, come see the new exhibits including a model of the USS Kearsarge, built by Lyman T. Place, to honor his uncle, James H. Lee, a Medal of Honor winner.

Lee served in the  US Navy on the Kearsarge during the battle with the CSS Alabama.

Lee is buried in Rural Cemetery in the Town of Oswego.
