Minetto Recognizes Its Sixth Graders

MINETTO, NY – Minetto Elementary School sixth graders were in the spotlight at the annual honors program conducted before a cafeteria-packed with parents, friends, family and staff members.

Principal Dean Goewey presented certificates to each sixth grader and also recognized several other students with special awards.

The “Principal’s American Citizenship Award” was presented to Corey Stevens and Rachel Godden while the New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman Triple “C” Award was given to Hannah Strzelinski and Douglas Schneider.

Minetto Elementary School recently conducted its sixth grade honors program. Several students were presented the “President Award for Educational Excellence” as they excelled academically and have exceeded proficiency on the New York State Test in English Language Arts and Math.

The recognized students included Nicholas Chalifoux, Julia Choate, Kyle Crossman, Kelsey Cullinan, Sarah Dahar, Rachel Godden, Jesse Hauser, Eleanor Page, Brianna Pfeiffer, Peyton Rowe, Douglas Schneider, Brian Shaw, Corey Stevens, Hannah Strzelinski and Tanner Wegzyn.

The “President Award for Academic Achievement” was also presented for outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment and intellectual development.

The honored students included Austin Attwood, Haley Boardway, Derek Carmella, Natalie Chubon, Trey Clark, Allyson Conner, Merritt Czerow, Chandler Davis, Spencer Davis, Jasmine Dingman, Natalie Griffin, Alexa Hardesty, Riley Jaquin, Katelynn Kelsey, Jack Malone, Nicholas Masuicca, Luke May, Alexander McRae, Madisyn Miller, Autumn Naramore, Samuel Spaulding and Kelsey Wilder.

Students also received awards for band, orchestra, vocal music, art, physical education, science, social studies, reading, writing and mathematics.

Joining Goewey for the presentation of certificates to the students were teachers Tracy Anderson, Amy Sullivan, Tanya Wadsworth and Nancy Zawisza.

Minetto sixth graders moving on to Oswego Middle School in September include Rianna Bartlett, Tyler Blackmar, John Burns, Derek Caramella, Noah Chappell-Lowe, Natalie Chubon, Kyle Crossman, Merritt Czerow, Natalie Griffin, Katelynn Kelsey, Caleb Lamb, Madisyn Miller, Stephen Neider, Kyle Roy, Angel Santillan, Cody Scruton, Kateri Senke, Brian Shaw and Hannah Strzelinski in Anderson and Sullivan’s class.

From Wadsworth’s class were Austin Attwood, Alexandra Benway, Haley Boardway, Nicholas Chalifoux, Julie Choate, Trey Clark, Allyson Conner, Kelsey Cullinan, Sarah Dahar, Spencer Davis, Benjamin Hansel, Montana Holmes, Riley Jaquin, Isabella-Marie Lamb, Eleanor Page, Brianna Pfeifer, Peyton Rowe, Corey Stevens and Tanner Wegzyn.

Zawisza’s class included Avery Croucher, Chandler Davis, Jasmine Dingman, Rachel Godden, Alexa Hardesty, Jesse Hauser, Sara Johnson, Jack Malone, Nicholas Masuicca, Luke May, Alexander McRae, Makayla Mesec, Jared Mills, Autumn Naramore, Madison Rahn, Kolin Rock, Douglas Schneider, Zachary Sheridan, Olivia Sliwa, Samuel Spaulding and Kelsey Wilder.

  1. Trying to reach Jack Rogers (1945-1955) I was his classmate and pal from 1944-5 in Minetto Elementary. (as were Marcia Clark & Darryl Stevens) Any help appreciated.
