FULTON, NY – Executive Director of Oswego County Opportunities, Diane Cooper-Currier has announced that Eric Bresee was recently honored with the agency’s prestigious Amelia Whelahan Leadership Award during OCO’s annual board meeting held April 27 at Springside at Seneca Hill.
Presented annually, the OCO’s Amelia Whelahan Leadership Award recognizes a staff member who has made outstanding contributions to OCO and the Human Services profession.
The award is dedicated in the memory of Amelia Whelahan, a dedicated and committed member of the Oswego County Opportunities family for many years.
She served on the agency’s board of directors, its planning and evaluation committee, and as its president.
For her many contributions and accomplishments, the board of directors recognizes her memory by honoring a distinguished employee with this award each year.
“This year, I am proud to say that we had many outstanding nominees. While they were all worthy of the award, I am happy to honor Eric Bresee as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Amelia Whelahan Leadership Award. Eric has directed, monitored, and coordinated multiple components of youth and family programs and maintained 14 services programs and 31 different grant sources. He is truly worthy of this award,” said Cooper-Currier.
Youth and Family Services director Bresee, an 11-year employee of OCO, began his career as a substitute counselor in the agency’s Developmentally Disabled department.
In 2004 he joined OCO’s Youth Services as a program coordinator where he served in several positions prior to being named director of Youth and Family Services.
An active member of the community, Bresee contributes his time to several civic organizations including; YP Voice, Sunrise Rotary, the NYS Empire Coalition of Youth and Family Services Board.
His is a graduate of Leadership Oswego County and was a past recipient of OCO’s Outstanding Employee Award.
