FULTON, NY – Executive Director of Oswego County Opportunities, Diane Cooper-Currier presented Mike and Patti Tryniski with the OCO Howard Wilcox Volunteer of the Year Award at the agency’s annual meeting held April 27 at Springside at Seneca Hill.
The award is given to a volunteer who goes above and beyond when it comes to offering OCO the use of their time and talents.
Owners of Lakeview Lanes in Fulton, the Tryniskis were recognized for their generous contribution to OCO’s annual Bowl-A-Fun.
“Volunteers are truly a part of OCO’s backbone and heritage as an organization,” said Cooper-Currier. “The volunteer force throughout OCO helps keep many of our programs operational, running smoothly and ensures that quality services are delivered. Mike and Patty have played an integral part in the success of our annual Bowl-A-Fun as they graciously lend their support by hosting the event. Thanks in part to their support our Bowl-A-Fun events have raised more than $80,000 over the past four years. It is my pleasure to present these caring individuals with this much deserved award.”
There were several nominees for Volunteer of the Year and all were recognized at the annual meeting: Shannon Gilliland, Fulton School Mentoring Program; Nellie Heywood, Pinewoods Head Start; Donna Joyner, Pulaski/Sandy Creek Senior Nutrition Program; and Richard Pupparo, Oswego Senior Nutrition Services dining center and meal delivery programs.
OCO offers more than 50 human service programs that serve more than 28,000 people each year.
Operating in more than 80 locations throughout Oswego County, OCO’ workforce has more than 650 employees and 1,000 highly valued volunteers.
