Operation Oswego County’s E-Newsletter Receives “Best in Class” Award

Operation Oswego County (OOC), Oswego County’s designated economic development agency, was recently awarded “best in class” for its electronic newsletter, “OOC E-News,” by the New York State Economic Development Council’s (NYSEDC) 2011 marketing and promotional materials award competition.  OOC was also recognized for its 2009 Annual Report.

OOC E-News delivers a quick, easy-to-read synopsis of new and ongoing economic development projects directly to the e-mail boxes of OOC’s key stakeholders which would also contain clickable links to OOC’s website for more information.

“We feel that the benefits are two-fold in creating ‘OOC E-news’ in that not only are we able to report important information about economic development activity to our constituents on a regular basis, we have also created a specific tool to enhance the marketing of our award-winning website to help bring attention to the resources and assets of our county that would offer value to a potential business customer,” said L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, OOC executive director.

For its 2009 Annual Report, OOC received the rank of “honorable mention.”  The report profiles development projects and summarizes capital investment and job creation facilitated by OOC in 2009.  The report was created in conjunction with Step One Creative.

The recognitions are awarded each year to NYSEDC member organizations throughout New York State who produce printed materials and Internet media to promote economic development in their areas.  OOC has won several awards in past years for the effectiveness and quality of its advertising and promotional materials from NYSEDC and other regional and national professional development organizations.
