Oswego, NY – The Oswego City Band celebrates its 80th year beginning Wednesday with an exciting and varied musical program, according to Trevor Jorgensen, concert band conductor.
Selections include marches by Sousa and Fillmore, Beguine the Beguine by Cole Porter, works by iconic American composers Aaron Copland and George Gershwin, selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, Schwartz’s whimsical musical Wicked, as well as standard concert band classics by Grainger and Ticheli.
All concerts are at Breitbeck Park and begin at 7:30 p.m, except the August dates, which will begin at 7 p.m. Concert goers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
The concerts are sponsored by the City of Oswego, with additional funding provided by the Music Performance Trust Fund and Oswego County Musicians Union, local 267-441.
