Oswego County Clerk Announces Deed Project Complete

OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County Clerk Terry Wilbur announced today that the full digitization and online deed accessibility project started earlier this year is now complete.

“I’m pleased to announce that all deeds filed in my office are now available online,” said Wilbur. “That means that people can go to our website and click on the link to search deed records as far back as 1816, when our county was first incorporated and this office was created.”

While deeds filed from 1963 to present have been searchable electronically since 2001, having older deeds available became an issue during the COVID-19 pandemic when it was more difficult to access records.

“Having all deeds searchable and available electronically is part of our vision to modernize the clerk’s office as much as possible for the convenience of our residents,” Wilbur said. “It’s reassuring to know that these records will always be accessible, even during a winter storm or other disaster.

“We’re also grateful to the Oswego County Legislature for making this project possible,” he added. “Its approval of $150,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding earlier this year helped us launch this initiative in April, and here it is fully completed by year’s end.”

Info Quick Solutions (IQS), the current records management software company for the County Clerk’s Office, was tasked with bringing all deed records up-to-date online.

People now have two options to access deed records. They can visit the County Clerk’s office where helpful staff can assist them in their search. There are several computer search tools available for free public use. The only charge is for hard copies of the deed(s) at .65 cents per page, minimum charge of $1.30.

The second option is to set up an account for a nominal fee through IQS. People can go to https://www.searchiqs.com/ and click on “Oswego” under the New York section to begin.

Wilbur reminds residents that his office staff are ready to help residents from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
