OSWEGO – The Oswego JV Boys Basketball team recently concluded the 2021-22 season. The Buccaneers ended the campaign with a strong 15-4 record.

That mark was truly impressive as all members of the current team had the previous scholastic season cancelled due to Covid concerns. Oswego was one of the few teams in Section III that had their JV and Modified basketball seasons halted one-year ago.
The Buccaneers had many highlights of the season, which featured the team playing an aggressive style at both ends of the court. Two of the biggest wins of the year came against Jamesville-DeWitt and Fulton. Both teams had defeated the Buccaneers earlier in the season.
It was just an enjoyable season even with two pauses of the season due to Covid. That resulted in a hectic late season game schedule, but the players never complained about it. Just a bunch of hard-nosed kids that never turned back from a challenge.
Team members included Cam Atkinson, Nick Besaw, Anthony Burke, Noah Bwalya, Charlie Cherchio, Moreno Fenty, Mac Fitzgerald, Nick Garafolo, Hassan Haji, Connor Harvey, Josh Haskins, Gus Potter, Jeremiah Senke and Kevin Waters. Cooper Fitzgerald and Tommy Kirwan were the team captains.
Bwalya (12.9 ppg), Fenty (10.2 ppg), Atkinson (10 ppg), Kirwan (9.3 ppg) and Cooper Fitzgerald (5.7 ppg) led the Buccaneers in scoring during the season.
The Buccaneers averaged 58.6 points per game while the opponents scored 48 points per game.
