The Oswego Lions Club will hold their 3rd Annual Child Safety Day with “Cow Chip Bingo” on Saturday, September 6th, at Fort Ontario. The Child Safety Day is scheduled from 11 am to 4 pm, and admission is free. The Child Safety Day will feature many booths including car seat safety check, bike rodeo, vision screenings, Operation Safe Child, and much more. The Oswego Lions Club will be donating 100 new bike helmets for the event.
The “Cow Chip Bingo” portion of the event will run from 12:00 to 3:00 pm. “Deeds” are available for $10.00 each. The proceeds from the “Cow Chip Bingo” will used to support an annual scholarship in the memory of Harold “H” Dowd. “H” was a member of the Fulton Lions Club who was instrumental in keeping the Oswego Lions Club going when it was on the verge of disbanding in 1996.
The “Cow Chip Bingo” will take place on a football size field that will be sectioned off into 520 square yard plots. “Deeds” are being sold for $10 for each square yard plot. Once “Poopsie” the cow is released onto the field, whoever owns the plot that “Poopsie” the cow fertilizes, walks away with $1000. “Deeds” are available for purchase at Cakes Galore and More, Maida’s Floral Shop, Hometown Embroidery and Dowd’s House of Flowers. The Oswego Lions Club members will also be selling “Deeds” at the August 28th Oswego Farmers Market and “Poopsie” the cow will be making an appearance.
“The response we have had to this event has been overwhelming, and we hope it will be something that the entire Oswego community looks forward to every September”, said Karen Hammond, chairperson of the event.
