Oswego Public Library To Host Women’s Health Fair

OSWEGO, NY – Women of all ages are invited to attend a very special Women’s Health Fair.

Scheduled for Feb. 13, the event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Oswego Public Library, 120 E. Second St., from noon to 3 p.m.

“The Oswego Public Library invites all of the women in our community to do something for themselves this weekend,” said Edward Elsner a librarian at the facility.

Coordinated by Oswego County Opportunities, the Women’s Health Fair promises to be a fun and educational event that women of all ages are sure to enjoy.

Planning committee member and coordinator of OCO’s Cancer Services Program Partnership, Carolyn Handville said, “We have put together a great day for women where they can come and not only get some spectacular educational resources, but also enjoy an afternoon of pampering as well. The event will also offer an opportunity to win several free door prizes donated by the vendors including a $50 gift card.”

Handville said that the Women’s Health Fair would feature more than a dozen vendors offering a variety of free services and information.

Those scheduled to take part include:

OCO’s Cancer Services Program with information of free cancer screenings;  OCO’s WIC Program with information on nutrition and breast feeding; OCO’s Facilitated Enrollment Program with information on health insurance; OCO’s Health Education Program; OCO’s Youth Services Program; Oswego Health with information on diabetes and smoking cessation; Oswego Health’s Radiology Department will be offering free bone density screenings; Beauti-Control offering tips on lip care and lip treatments;  Mary Kay offering tips on hand care and hand treatments; BOCES Cosmetology Students offering manicures and nail care; Riverview Wellness Center offering chair massages and face mapping; Catholic Charities’ Nutrition Outreach and Education Program; The Mustard Seed; Stones Candy.

“I encourage women to not only join us for this special event, but help us spread the word and tell their friends about the Women’s Health Fair,” added Handville.
