OSWEGO, NY – Oswego students and parents will be encouraged to use education internet services on the Oswego City School District web page as Study Zone Blitz is under way.

Study Zone BlitzTechnology Integration Specialist Mary Beth Fierro said, “We kicked off the blitz on Thursday, June 5. This is a weeklong effort to familiarize students, parents and teachers with the Study Zone that is available on the district web site.”

She explained, “The Study Zone is a massive collection of educational materials that are aligned with the New York State standards in Math, English Language Arts and Social Studies. It is available free of charge to anyone who has internet access. All of the activities, lessons, practice pages, and interactive areas are available to support the instruction that takes place daily in our classrooms.”

The area is available for students from kindergarten through their senior year, but Study Zone Blitz will be for the K-6 students.

This is expected to be the first of numerous exciting events using the Study Zone.

Through the period of June 5 through the following week Fierro noted, “We want parents to sit down with their child and look at the activities that have been pre-selected for them. Our elementary teachers have selected different things for the families to do. A flyer has been sent home to every family and we ask that at the completion of the program for them to complete the tear off sheet on that flyer and provide us with comments and suggestions that will be valuable in future endeavors.”

The site can be reached easily.

Those participating should click on www.oswego.org and then on the left side of the page is a Study Zone link.

Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Curriculum Cathy Chamberlain was instrumental in the creation of this educational opportunity and Study Zone is widely used by students, parents and educators around the nation as millions of persons have connected and used this educational tool.

Fierro explained, “The Study Zone is a creation of the Oswego City School District Curriculum Department working in cooperation with the technology department. It was started nearly eight years ago and continues to be a valuable education site with thousands of hits per day and millions during Regent’s testing time.”

This will be an exciting, interactive activity for Oswego’s elementary students along with parents and teachers. missing or outdated ad config
