Oswego Town VFD To Provide First Response EMS Service

OSWEGO TOWN, NY – The commissioners of the Oswego Town Fire District would like to address some of the possible concerns of our residents in light of recently published articles regarding the Town of Oswego ambulance service.

First and foremost we want to assure the residents that the Town of Oswego Volunteer Fire Department will continue to provide our community with first response EMS service.

Regardless of the negotiations and outcome of an ambulance contract, your fire department will be responding to any of your fire or EMS requests as we always have.

You will not be without EMS protection.

To clarify our role in the ambulance agreement situation, New York State law states that the Town Board is responsible for contracting ambulance service.

The Town of Oswego Volunteer Fire Department and the Oswego Town Fire District are not given any authority in this matter.

The Town of Oswego Volunteer Fire Department will continue to work with whichever ambulance provider is dispatched to assist us.

If you have any questions regarding the ambulance agreement, please contact the Oswego Town Supervisor’s office or the City of Oswego Mayor’s office.

Since the Town of Oswego Volunteer Fire Department and the Oswego Town Fire District are not involved in the negotiations of this agreement, we do not have all the information and therefore should not be commenting on this matter.

Again, please be assured that the Town of Oswego Volunteer Fire Department will be there to serve all your emergency needs.
