Parsons Named Assistant Administrator at Ladies Home of Oswego

Marie Parsons has been named Assistant Administrator of the Ladies Home of Oswego.

Oswego, NY – Marie Parsons has been named Assistant Administrator of the Ladies Home of Oswego, according to Executive Director Lee Ann Walker.

Parsons has been involved with the Ladies Home since 2006 and took the new position last June. Since then, Parsons and has been fully engaged in every aspect of the organization’s operations and now supervises staff including training and reviewing policy and procedures. She oversees purchasing and medication management as well as screening potential residents.

“She is my eyes and ears,” said Walker. “Marie provides great leadership at the Ladies Home – from case management to house cleaning, and has extensive experience with the elderly, both personally and professionally.”

Parsons grew a heart for elder care primarily because of her father, who had been on dialysis since she was five years old. Her support of her dad during his illness and her grandfather’s stay in long term care, created a strong desire to advocate and assist those in need.  She has a total of 12 years of healthcare experience. Prior to joining the Ladies Home, Parsons worked for Loretto for seven years in the rehabilitation unit. She spent time taking care of people with Aids, cancer and other debilitating illnesses through her life work.  Her advocacy for the elderly has her involved with resident’s families, their doctors and service providers; from labs to transportation, as well as well as working with the Home’s regulating agency, the Department of Health, to provide the best of care for the Home’s residents. Parsons, a single mother, is very involved raising her son as well as working full time. She a Hannibal High School Graduate is also a certified nursing assistant, licensed phlebotomist, and is currently a business major at University of Phoenix. She also finds time for golf, softball and service organizations like the Moose.

“We know Marie is something special,” said Rick Carlesco, President of the Ladies Home Board of Directors.  “She is active at our board meetings and reports often on the organization’s operations.”

According to Parsons, the care for the women of the Ladies Home is truly a “life calling.” “Some of our ladies are well into their 90’s and you can imagine the life stories they have,” stated Parsons. “Every chance I get, I try to spend time to get to know them better.” To her, there are no numbers on the resident’s doors, but a name of a person who imparts wisdom into Marie’s life providing mutual benefit to her and those she cares for.

The Ladies Home is a small not-for-profit adult home with up to twenty-one women in residence.  The staff is dedicated to giving the best care for all residents in a safe, cozy, home-like atmosphere.  They are there to provide assistance with whatever your Mother would need; help with medications, meals, and personal care.  The home is always filled with love and laughter.
