OSWEGO COUNTY – School may be out for the summer, but Phoenix Central School District students still have a plethora of enriching opportunities and activities they can take part in throughout the summer.

Summer learning camps kicked off in mid July and are a no-cost way for students to continue learning and enjoying the outdoors this summer. There are camps for all students grades K-12, covering everything from regents review to community mural paintings.

In addition to the summer learning, there are also several athletic camps being offered, should students want to work on their sports skills. These camps include soccer, tennis, volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, baseball, football, track & field, softball, wrestling and cross country.

“These programs give our students a great opportunity to engage in hands-on learning,” said Brandi Finniss, a teacher for one of the art learning camps. “In the case of our art program students, we get to go out into the community and draw real life locations and scenery. It’s great for the kids because it gets them outside during the summer, and really encourages their creativity.”
