We’ve said this before, but there is no problem with saying it again!
This is the time of year that we used to issue warnings about all the horrible things that can happen to your pets over the holidays.
If it’s not poinsettias to worry about (which it is not) then it’s mistletoe (which it is) or chocolate, or grapes or tinsel (yes to all).
But you can just go online to any reputable animal welfare site, we like the ASPCA, and read all those depressing and dire warnings.
We’re not saying you shouldn’t read up about them.
We’re just saying, let’s have fun instead!
Here’s how:
Buy your pets some holiday toys or make some, you can never have too many toys.
And they don’t have to be new or expensive either.
We all know that our pets are perfectly delighted with the exact same balls and squeaky toys over and over and over.
Adopt a new pet for the holidays.
It’s probably not a great idea to bring a frisky kitten home the day before Christmas and plop her down in front of the tree.

But, you can adopt a grownup cat a year or older from the Oswego County Humane Society for an adoption fee of only $25 from now until the end of December.
She’ll have a home and you will have a better home.
Sign up to volunteer with your local Humane Society or shelter to help, however they need help.
It may not be walking the dogs, but it will definitely be worthwhile.
Donate – money is great but so are supplies, food, toys. Call to find out what they need.
Take your dogs for a walk in the winter snow and mud; no, it’s not the same as a walk on the beach, but they’re dogs. They don’t care.
Go ahead, snuggle up on the couch with all of them.
Send everyone you know pictures of your beautiful fur kids and wish them Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or Happy Hanukah or Happy Kwanza or whatever.
Your pets certainly don’t care.
