The Port of Oswego Authority won a Golden Quotes Award recently in the Marketing/Public Relations Print Media category for “Best Advertising Campaign”, according to the Port’s Executive Director Jonathan Daniels.
The awards show and dinner, which is presented annually by the Professional Journalists and Communicators of Oswego County (PFC) recognizes excellence in the county’s communication fields. This year the competition was held at Springside at Seneca Hill.
The port’s award-winning entry consisted of a series of three ads entitled, “Strength of Character”, “Global Positioning”, and A Waterfront That Sparkles”. Each of the ads include strong visual representation of the Port of Oswego, simple headlines, and body copy that highlighted the port’s global and community outreach and partnerships.
The advertising campaign was developed in partnership with Step One Creative, their Oswego-based advertising design firm; and Oswego-based VanSuydam Photography for photography.
“We’re very excited about this recognition,” said Daniels. “The advertising campaign has positioned the Port of Oswego very strongly within our industry. With the introduction of our new brand identity this past spring, this series of ads, and numerous other initiatives that are being developed, we’re very pleased with direction our marketing program is taking.”
The Port of Oswego is the first U.S. port and first deepwater port on the Great Lakes from the St. Lawrence Seaway and is accessible from virtually any international port in the world. The port was officially commissioned in 1955 but has been a major driver in local and national commerce since the 1800s.
The Port is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to accommodate vessels from all ports on the Great Lakes and around the world. The port entrance depth is 27 feet, a width of 750 feet, a turning basin of 115 acres, and it has no restrictions on beam length for ships entering the harbor. A U.S. Customs Service office is maintained on site to facilitate the movement of legitimate international cargo by rail, truck and water.
