The village of Pulaski regained the title of Oswego County’s best-tasting drinking water in an informal contest held June 5 at the Oswego Farmers’ Market.
Six municipal water districts took part in the 24rd annual contest.
Visitors were invited to taste samples of public drinking water and cast votes for their first and second choices.
Water from the village of Pulaski was the tasters’ favorite, followed by the town of Richland, village of Mexico, city of Oswego, village of Cleveland and city of Fulton.
Pulaski’s water sample will be entered in a regional competition scheduled for Aug. 8 at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse.
Regional finalists from around the state will compete at the New York State Fair for the state’s best-tasting drinking water.
Fifty-seven people voted in the Oswego County contest, which is sponsored by the Environmental Division of the Oswego County Health Department in conjunction with the New York chapter of the Water and Wastewater Education and Outreach Committee.
