PULASKI, NY – Coming off a very successful year last year, Pulaski High School Art Teacher Stacey Walton was hoping for more of the same this year when the annual Scholastic Art Show rolled around. This year, participation was at an all-time high, with students submitting dozens of pieces of artwork.
This year also saw Pulaski students receive more awards than ever before, with a total of 47. This included 10 gold keys, the highest possible award. Any artwork or portfolio that receives a Gold Key immediately moves to the national level for judging.
“Last year was a great year for us and this year blew it out of the water,” said Walton. “The Scholastic Art Competition is one of the most competitive in the nation. Students from the entire Central New York Region, spanning 14 counties, submit work each year. Only a small percentage of all submitted work gets accepted into the show. I am so proud of all our students.”
All winning artworks will be delivered to OCC on February 2nd and put up on display at the Whitney Applied Technology Center on Saturday. The show will be on display through March 1st.
