OSWEGO – Super modified race car driver Aric Iosue visited the Oswego Public Library’s Summer Reading Club and spoke to his young audience of the importance of reading if they wished to succeed in following their dreams.
Iosue spoke about how he became a driver by first working on the pit crew of Ray Graham and members of his family.
Children asked what it was like racing his car at the Oswego Speedway to which he replied, “Fast.”
Following his talk, children were allowed to climb into the #11 which had been parked in the lower lot of the library.
Iosue is the 2015 Supermodified Rookie of the Year and drives the #11 The Flying RXist.
He is a graduate of Rutgers University with a doctorate in pharmacy and is now working for Kinney Drugs in Oswego.
For individuals interested in meeting other drivers, the Oswego Speedway will offer a special fan appreciation night on August 20.
Children under the age of 16 are free if accompanied by a paid adult.
Adult tickets for that night are $5.
Children and adults will have an opportunity to meet with and get autographs from the different drivers from 5:15 until 6 p.m.
Racing will start at 6:30 p.m.
