The Oswego YMCA is excited to have Oswego Health as the returning headlining sponsor leading the list of local business supporting this popular community 5k walk/run and 10k run which includes Eagle Beverage Company, C’s Farm Market, Pemberton Associates, Pinnacle Preschool, the Spine & Joint Specialists at CANI, Port City Chiropractic, the Tobacco Free Network of Oswego County, Price Chopper & the Golub Foundation, Oswego Bagelry and Sandwich Shop, Step One Creative, ZINK Shirts and Auyer Race Timing.

Families and friends are encouraged to celebrate the Harborfest weekend with this annual event.

The routes offer much to see as they wind through scenic Oswego waterfronts, festival venues and the SUNY Oswego campus.

The 10K route takes runners to the SUNY Oswego campus and back, while the 5K route will stay on the west side of the city of Oswego, sharing some of the 10K path.

The river’s end bookstore kids fun run will encompass a one city block area and will repeat according to the distance selected by each child.

All events begin at the Oswego YMCA, 265 W. First St.

Proceeds from the event go toward supporting Y programs that educate, rehabilitate and encourage positive health habits for all.

One in nine people living in the Oswego community is a member of the Oswego YMCA.

Last year, the Oswego YMCA provided more than $60,000 in financial assistance to individuals to participate in programs to improve their quality of life through healthy living programs and services.

The 29th Annual 5k Run/Walk and 10k Run event will begin at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Oswego YMCA’s Armory with the finish at the city of Oswego’s Civic Plaza.

The river’s end bookstore kid’s fun starts at 8am directly in front of the Oswego YMCA building and offers a ¼ mile, ½ mile and 1 mile route for kids ages 4-12.

“This event would not be possible without the generous support of all our contributing sponsors,” said Trish Levine, Health and Wellness Director at the Oswego YMCA.

Levine also noted that the event has been ongoing for nearly three decades through the consideration of a large group of dedicated volunteers.

Local community and school groups are encouraged to sign up to volunteer for the event, she added.

There is an entry fee for all events and fees increase on the day of the event.

Online registration is available at lightboxreg.com until 9 a.m. on July 26.

The Oswego YMCA will accept in-person registration until 7 p.m. July 28 and on the day of the event from 7 – 7:45 a.m.

Shirts in selected sizes will be guaranteed to those who registered before July 1.

Refreshments and awards will take place in the civic plaza following the events.
