Richard S. Shineman Foundation Announces Spring 2024 Grant Awards

OSWEGO – The Richard S. Shineman Foundation is proud to announce its Spring 2024 Grant Awards, which support a diverse array of community-focused projects across Oswego County and Central New York. These grants, totaling over $309,000, reflect the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our region through strategic philanthropy. Strategic Grants

CiTi BOCES

Grant Amount: $75,000
Purpose: CDL Training Simulator
Impact: This matching grant will help fund a state-of-the-art Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training simulator, which will provide crucial hands-on experience to students and support local workforce development.

Restore CNY

Grant Amount: $10,000
Purpose: Community Hub’s Afterschool Drop-in Program
Impact: This matching grant supports the Community Hub which provides an afterschool drop-in program, offering a safe and engaging environment for local youth.

Fulton Wrestling Club

Grant Amount: $10,000
Purpose: Roof Installation for Safety Egress
Impact: The installation of a new roof will enhance the safety and functionality of the wrestling club’s facilities.

Ducks Unlimited

Grant Amount: $15,000
Purpose: Gardenier Road Preserve Project
Impact: This project will restore former muck farmland into a thriving wildlife preserve, promoting biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

CenterState CEO Foundation/Fulton Block Builders

Grant Amount: $14,300
Purpose: Fulton Living History Tour
Impact: Support for the Fulton Living History Tour will help preserve and share the rich history of the area with residents and visitors alike.

Erie Canal Museum

Grant Amount: $7,500
Purpose: Field Trips for Oswego County Students
Impact: The grant will cover bussing and entry fees, making educational field trips accessible to local students.

Community Grants

John and Doris Hasto Playground

Grant Amount: $5,000
Purpose: Playground Improvements
Impact: Enhancements to the playground will provide a safe and enjoyable space for children to play and socialize.

Kristina’s House of Hope

Grant Amount: $10,000
Purpose: Basement Remediation and Storage
Impact: This grant will fund necessary basement remediation and storage solutions, supporting the organization’s mission to help those in need.

Children’s Advocacy Center

Grant Amount: $32,013
Purpose: Community Action Team Coordinator
Impact: Funding will enable the Center to expand its staff, enhancing its ability to support children and families in crisis.

Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County

Grant Amount: $15,000
Purpose: Diaper Bank Pilot Program
Impact: Launching a diaper bank will address a critical need for many families, supporting the health and well-being of young children.

On Point for College

Grant Amount: $75,000
Purpose: Supporting Pathways to College and Careers
Impact: This significant grant will aid in expanding educational and career opportunities for high school students across Oswego County.

Central New York Tick and Lyme Disease

Grant Amount: $20,000
Purpose: Tick-Borne Disease Prevention
Impact: Continued efforts to raise awareness and prevent tick-borne diseases will benefit the community’s health and safety.

Community Enrichment Grants

Fulton Junior High School

Grant Amount: $2,500
Purpose: Community Service Project
Impact: This grant supports student-led community service projects, fostering a spirit of volunteerism and civic engagement. An additional $500 was awarded to provide sweet treats as a thank you to the hardworking students.

Basswood Folk Arts and Gina Marie Music Studio

Grant Amount: $750
Purpose: Live Music Festival and Community Event
Impact: Funding will help host a vibrant community event celebrating local culture and music.

Mini-Grants

Total Amount: $16,874

  • Salmon River Fine Arts Center: $5,000 for Young Artists Experience Art Club in Pulaski.
  • Oswego County Fairgrounds: $7,374 to rebuild the stage.
  • Heritage Foundation of Oswego: $4,500 for furniture and equipment to support multiple non-profits.
