State Senator Patty Ritchie recently visited the Salmon River Fish Hatchery in Altmar for its 21st annual open house and family day.

The event is held in conjunction with the celebration of “National Hunting and Fishing Day.”
During her visit to the Salmon River Fish Hatchery, Senator Ritchie, who serves on the Senate Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation Committee, took a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility’s inner workings and learned more about the hatchery’s operations and special features while visiting with various staff members.
Over the past three years, Senator Ritchie has secured more than $400,000 in special funding to support local fishing tournaments and increase recreational tourism throughout Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties.
