OSWEGO, NY – Whether you are experienced at the art of scrapbooking or just a novice, the Oswego Public Library will be hosting a scrapbooking session that you won’t want to miss.
It’s scheduled for July 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library, 120 E. Second St.
Sponsored by the Rural Health Network of Oswego County, the Tobacco Free Network of Oswego County and the Oswego County Health Department, the scrapbooking techniques session will be facilitated by Pam Marion.
Marion, who attends a yearly scrapbooking conference in Hamilton, has been creating innovative scrapbooks for the past 15 years.
“I love scrapbooking. My grandkids and I compiled a scrapbook for my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding and even took the pictures for it. Scrapbooking creates a wonderful memory to leave to your children and grandchildren because of the stories told in the journaling throughout the scrapbook,” said Marion.
“We are happy to be able to offer this session,” said Danielle Wert, coordinator of the Rural Health Network. “Pam will be discussing and demonstrating some of the many creative techniques that will enhance any scrapbooking project. It will be a fun event for scrapbookers of all ages and interest levels.”
As part of the event, Wert and Abby Jenkins, program coordinator for the Tobacco Free Network of Oswego County, will be at the seminar to demonstrate their new state-of-art progression software that displays the physical affects of tobacco use over time.
“The Rural Health Network and our partners are dedicated to improving the health of our communities. One of our initiatives is to raise awareness of the effects that tobacco use can have on an individual. Being able to show someone how his or her appearance changes as a result of tobacco use can be very powerful,” said Wert.
Wert added that the software also has the capability to display the affects of obesity and sun exposure.
While the scrapbooking session is free and open to the public, reservations are appreciated.
