Sandy Creek Middle School’s Top 15 Students Honored

The top 15 students in Sandy Creek Middle School’s eighth grade class were honored in a special luncheon held at the school by Principal Carolyn Shirley.

The top students were determined by the cumulative average the students had achieved from sixth through eighth grade.

Sandy Creek Superintendent of Schools Stewart Amell praised the students for their academic accomplishments.

Quoting from the invitation each student received for the luncheon he said, “‘The roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best that you can become.’ The key word here is ‘will.’ I challenge you to become the best that you can be.”

He also noted that many of the students in the room have been involved in many other activities, including sports, music, community service, etc. and encouraged the students to continue with that well-rounded education.

“Colleges look for well-rounded students,” he said.

He also encouraged them to give back to their communities.

He further challenged them saying, “You are the role models for the rest of the students.”

Following the luncheon, the students were each presented with a framed certificate to commemorate the honor.

Principal Shirley told the students to, “Keep it up, work hard and it will pay off in the end. It will matter.”

Kayla Carnes, Hannah Dasno, Bailey Fahnestock, Abigail Fitzpatrick, Kalista Kimball, Alison Lantry, Makenzie Lococo, Carly Lyndaker, Zachary Martin, Joseph Metott, Jadyn Mullin, Jordyn Mullin, Samantha Walter, Alexis Wolfe and Margery Yousey.
