Universal pre-kindergarten students at Sandy Creek Elementary School are setting sail for kindergarten.

A ‘sail-a-bration’ ceremony in the students’ honor was hosted the last week of the 2012-13 school year, giving teachers and the school principal an opportunity to recognize the students for their hard work and academic achievements over the past school year.
The students performed some of their favorite songs during the ‘sail-a-bration’ including songs about the days of the week, months of the year, and their 26 academic friends, the alphabet.
Elementary school principal SueAnn Archibee, with tears of joy in her eyes, talked about the important work that the students have been doing all year and said, “You are certainly ready for kindergarten.”

Pre-kindergarten teacher Julie McNitt presented each student with a portfolio during the ceremony to commemorate his/her time as a pre-kindergarten student.
Each portfolio contained the student’s report cards and some of his/her work from school year.
The pre-kindergarten students honored at the ‘sail-a-bration’ will, incidentally, be the Sandy Creek Central School District Class of 2026.
