OSWEGO, NY -Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County’s Silent Auction will be one of the highlights at this year’s 5th Annual Diane Falise Memorial Scrabble Fest.
The event will take place May 6, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 132 W. Fifth St.
Event participants will enjoy hors d’ouevres, a cash bar, raffles, and a silent auction!
“The support our community shows us by sponsoring this event and donating gifts to our auction cannot be overstated.” said LVOC Executive Director Jane Murphy. “Lunch for two at Mirbeau Inn and Spa in Skaneateles, accent silver/diamond key pendant from JC Penney’s, gifts certificates and items from local businesses and restaurants, Man in the Moon Candies, and a Vera Bradley hobo bag from Your House, Your Home are just a few of the many items available.”
This year a complete Wii Package with Wii Sports and Fit Plus with Balance Board is being raffled. There will also be a raffle for a beautiful handmade quilt designed and donated by Oswego resident Margaret Mulcahey. Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance from LVOC Board members or by contacting the office.
Participants at Scrabble Fest are registered as a team of 4 and compete against fellow teams in four rounds of Scrabble. Registration for teams must be made in advance, so please contact LVOC as soon as possible.
“Not everyone has to compete at this event.” said Murphy, “For a 10 dollar donation, you can come and enjoy our silent auction and raffles while you watch the Scrabble competition.”
Members of the auction committee have been busy collecting new and exciting items from businesses and organizations from all over the state.
“We are really fortunate to receive donations from so many businesses in our community,” said auction chairperson Rhonda Hutchins. “Their participation is appreciated by the organization and all of those individuals that LVOC serves. It is just another example of our community coming together to help improve the lives of its citizens.”
