Sheriff’s Office To Hold Public Safety Day Aug. 5

OSWEGO – The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office will hold its third annual Public Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 5, at the Oswego County Highway Garage on Schaad Drive, just off Route 104 East in Scriba.

Several local businesses and organizations will be on hand for the event, which will feature carnival games and a dunk tank, obstacle course, mechanical bull, power wheels track, schoolbus rollover evacuation demonstration, free child ID cards, a reptile show, bounce house, prizes, and giveaways. and information on a variety of local services.

Several community agencies will be on hand including Oswego County Highway Department, Oswego County Emergency Management Office, NYS Police, Scriba Fire Department, U.S. Border Patrol, Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office, U.S. Army Recruiter’s Office, Oswego County Search and Rescue Team, Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, Operation Lifesaver, Oswego YMCA, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Malone’s Excavating, CKR Racing, and many other organizations.

Law enforcement and emergency response vehicles, including police cars, ATVs, boats, and fire trucks will be displayed.

The event will also feature car seat checks, Lifenet helicopter, agriculture and construction safety demonstrations, and impaired driving demonstrations.

LD’s Alehouse will have a food truck on hand.

Visitors who bring a non-perishable food item for the Catholic Charities food drive will receive a free 50/50 ticket.

There will be a Red Cross blood drive at the same time, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the nearby Scriba Fire Station.

Public Safety Day is sponsored by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division, Exelon, Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-In, Nice n Easy Grocery Shops, Stonecreek Golf Club, Dunkin’ Donuts, Tops Friendly Markets, Lighthouse Lanes, Tractor Supply Company, Honor Ridge Tactical, Oswego Speedway, Wonder Works, McDonald’s, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, Big Kahuna Party Rentals, Ruby Tuesday, Canale’s Restaurant, Vella’s Neighborhood Market, and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
