Shineman Foundation Awards $206,035 to Support Oswego County Nonprofits
Oswego, New York – The Richard S. Shineman Foundation has awarded grants totaling $206,035 to not-for-profit organizations in Oswego County during its Spring 2025 grant round. These grants will support initiatives in health and human services, education, food insecurity, and youth development, furthering the Foundation’s mission to enhance the quality of life for residents in the region.
The most significant award, $75,000, was granted to On Point For College to expand its college and career access and success services for Oswego County. Other significant grants include:
Fulton Community Basketball: Awarded $50,000 for enhancing their supervised summer programming to provide a free, accessible, inclusive program that welcomes youth of all backgrounds and abilities.
CiTi BOCES: Received $30,000 to pilot the use of Classroom Audio Distribution Systems in 10 classrooms, serving 250 students across Oswego County.
The Syracuse Orchestra: Awarded $10,000 to present The Messiah, a beloved holiday favorite, to audiences in Oswego County.
Desens House: Awarded $5,000 for “The Recovery Table”, building a sober-supportive community through shared meals for those in addiction recovery.
Brayhope Farm: Received $5,000 to make ADA accessible modifications
Hospice of CNY and the Finger Lakes: Received $5,000 for durable medical equipment for hospice patients in Oswego County.
Youth initiatives were also key priorities:
Restore CNY: Granted $2,500 as a contribution to their “Summer Mayhem” free rec program for kids in Oswego County.
Salvation Army of Oswego County: Received $5,000 to create a free mobile ice cream cart designed to engage and build relationships with the youth of Oswego County.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace: Granted $7,500 to build and distribute beds to children in need in Oswego County.
Several smaller grants focused on community enrichment:
All Saints Episcopal Church: Awarded $2,450 to continue providing weekly meals for anyone in need at their “Tuesday Night Dinners”.
Longhouse Council Scouting America: Granted $1,260 to update technology at the Oswego County Camp Woodland.
Camp Foundations: Received $1,500 for a new AED machine.
Church of the Resurrection Prayer & Care Pantry: Awarded $1,000 to stock the Oswego care pantry with toiletries and personal care items.
Preservation & Revitalization Of Pulaski (PROP): Received $2,325 for the Main Street Beautification Project.
CNY Arts, Inc.: Awarded $2,500 to host a professional development workshop with Oswego County nonprofits that share the arts with the community.
Shineman Foundation Announces New Grant Opportunities:
In addition to these awards, the Shineman Foundation has announced the opening date for the fall round, which includes Community Enrichment Grants, Community Impact Grants, and Strategic Grants. These grants provide funding opportunities for projects that align with the Foundation’s mission of enhancing and improving the quality of life for residents of Oswego County.
The Community Enrichment Grant provides up to $2,500 to support local events, programs, and activities that enhance cultural experiences and foster a sense of belonging.
The Community Impact Grant program offers grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 for initiatives addressing critical needs, including health, early childhood development, and the arts.
The Strategic Grant program is for requests exceeding $10,000 and requires a Letter of Intent (LOI) prior to submitting an application.
Access Codes for LOI and grant applications will open August 29, 2025. No access codes will be given without a preliminary grant meeting. To schedule any time before August 29, 2025, please email Kelly Green, Grant Program Coordinator, at [email protected]
