Social Services Department Sponsors Orientation Meeting for Future Foster, Adoptive Parents

MEXICO, NY – The Oswego County Department of Social Services will host an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 13, at the Department’s Spring Street office, Mexico, for English and Spanish-speaking persons who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

Oswego County also needs Hispanic foster parents. El Condado de Oswego necesita padres de crianza hispanos!

The Department of Social Services is looking for people who would like to become foster families, particularly for children ages 8 and over who may have special needs for supervision.

All children available for adoption through Social Services have been in foster care for a period of time.

The children are typically ages 10 and older and have special needs.

Attendance at the informational meeting is required in order to enroll in the 10-week preparation program.

Single and two-parent families may apply to foster or adopt.

Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training.
