Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and earnest thankfulness and for students at the Make Sense Shop in Pulaski, their annual Thanksgiving Dinner provides the perfect occasion in which to say thank you to their school district administrators and teachers who support their educational opportunities at the shop.
District Superintendents, principals, counselors, special education teachers and other district representatives were on hand for the special Thanksgiving feast.
The Make Sense Shop is a learning center operated by the Pulaski Academy and Central Schools, in cooperation with the Sandy Creek Central and APW Central School districts.
The shop, which features a café, gift shop and used book store, is located in the Pulaski business district and provides a life-skills, job-training program for students ages 14-21.
Students are involved in every aspect of operating the business including cooking and serving meals, creating items for the gift shop, stocking shelves and inventory, cash register and bank transactions, and cleaning up at the end of the day.
The shop also has a classroom area for traditional instruction.
The Make Sense Shop is located at 4852 N. Jefferson St., Pulaski and is open to the public 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call (315) 298-8694.
