FULTON, NY – Construction of the Success By 6 Born Learning Trail is officially under way as workers from the city of Fulton poured and set the concrete for a 22’ x 17’ pad that will be part of the trail.

Located in Hulett Park in Fulton, the Success By 6 Born Learning Trail is one of only three that exist in New York State.

The trail, which will consist of a series of 10 learning stations, will utilize the surrounding environment to promote learning for youth 5 and under.

Project coordinator Ali McGrath is happy to see the project begin and is looking forward to the opening of the trail, which is scheduled for mid-June.

“Thanks to the efforts of the city of Fulton, who provided the labor, and Northern Concrete, who was kind enough to donate the concrete for the pad, construction of our Born Learning Trail is now under way. Lou Baldwin of Baldwin Masonry will soon be donating his time and talents as he installs the posts for each learning station followed by the placement of the signs for each station and the addition of cartoon animal characters that will be designed by Bill Mihalko,” she said.

Primary funding for the project is being provided through a $3,000 VAP grant (Volunteering Always Pays) from the Wal-Mart Super Center in Granby.

According to McGrath, the goal of the trail is to motivate children and help them learn some of the fundamentals of education before they enter school.

Each station along the trail will encourage children to do a different activity that they can learn from.

It will also provide parents, grandparents and caregivers with an excellent opportunity to be involved in an educational and fun activity with their children.

Born Learning is a national public engagement campaign built on awareness, education and action to help parents, caregivers and communities create learning opportunities for young children.
