Sunrise Rotary Club Presents Scholarships

OSWEGO – The Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club recently awarded two scholarships to graduating seniors from Oswego High School.

Samuel Gilbert received a $500 scholarship and Claire Ratzlaff received a $250 scholarship.

Samuel, the son of Craig and Jill Gilbert, attended Leighton Elementary and is a firefighter with the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department.

He is an Eagle Scout and Scout Leader for Troop 888.

Samuel was active in the Oswego High School Marching Band and a volunteer intern at Grace and Glory Ministries, as well as a volunteer counselor at Camp Foundations.

Claire, the daughter of the Rev. Verlyn and Carla Ratzlaff, attended elementary school in Horseheads, NY.

She is a scholar athlete, participating in varsity basketball and soccer.

Claire was an active member of the Interact Club, as well as a children’s church director and a volunteer counselor at Camp Foundations.

Claire also participated in mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Washington, DC.
