SUNY Oswego’s Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series will present the Symphony Syracuse Chamber Players in concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10, in Sheldon Hall ballroom.

The Ke-Nekt series event featuring the Symphony Syracuse Chamber Players will begin with a 7 p.m. pre-concert talk by Trevor Jorgensen, SUNY Oswego music faculty member and the evening’s host.

The ensemble will play Darius Milhaud’s “La Creation due Monde, Op. 81a,” William Walton’s “Facade” and Kurt Weill’s “Threepenny Opera.”

“This extraordinary concert is the first of two opportunities to hear the symphony musicians in Oswego this fall,” said John Shaffer, director of the college’s Artswego performing arts series. “The full orchestra comes to our campus in November with faculty member Robert Auler as guest piano soloist.”

The full Symphony Syracuse will appear at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre.

The orchestra and its supporters have been working to keep a high level of symphonic music in the region following the 2011 financial collapse of Syracuse’s 50-year-old orchestra.

“I’m excited to be playing with members of the former Syracuse Symphony Orchestra as they undertake a new direction,” said Jorgensen, a saxophonist who teaches woodwinds at SUNY Oswego.

Tickets for the Symphony Syracuse Chamber Players cost $15 ($12 for seniors ages 60 and over, youths 17 and under and SUNY Oswego faculty and staff; $6 for SUNY Oswego students).

Tickets are available at all SUNY Oswego box offices, online at tickets.oswego.edu or by calling 312-2141.

Patrons with disabilities needing assistance should call 312-2141, prior to the performance. missing or outdated ad config
