Syracuse, NY — The Preservation Association of Central New York (PACNY) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Nicole Fragnito as its new Executive Director. With nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit management, archaeology, and historic preservation, she brings a comprehensive perspective and a deep commitment to PACNY’s mission.
Professionally, Fragnito has expertise in historical research and fieldwork, grant management, and strategic planning, as well as experience forging strong connections with cultural institutions, agencies, and community advocates. Prior to this appointment, Fragnito worked as the Development Coordinator for the Central New York Lyme & Tick-Borne Disease Alliance. She holds a BA in Anthropology, a CAS in Cultural Heritage Preservation, and a MA in Museum Studies, all from Syracuse University. Fragnito formerly served on PACNY’s Board of Directors and currently sits on the Syracuse Landmark Preservation Board.
“I am honored to join PACNY in this new capacity as Executive Director,” said Fragnito. “My goal is to build on the organization’s legacy and reframe preservation as an accessible, engaging approach to community development. I look forward to utilizing my experiences to empower local advocates and introduce historic preservation to new audiences.”

Her skills and dedication to our cause make her the ideal person to help preserve and protect Central New York’s cultural heritage and lead PACNY into the future. We are excited about the vision and energy she brings to the role.”
In addition to welcoming Fragnito, PACNY will celebrate its 50th anniversary at their upcoming Annual Awards Ceremony on November 8, 2024 in Auburn, NY. The event will honor the organization’s rich history and achievements, recognizing individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the preservation field in Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego counties.
