FULTON, NY – A coalition of human service agencies are working together in planning an exciting, fun event that will raise awareness of hunger and poverty in Oswego County and help garner support for Oswego County’s food pantries.
On Sept. 11, the third annual Playing for Poverty, A Food Aid Concert for Oswego County, will launch a full day of music, food, and fun to raise awareness of hunger and poverty in Oswego County.
According to committee member Heather Robinson of Oswego County Opportunities’ Street Outreach Services, the event is a means for community members to come together to raise monetary and food donations that will be used to help families in Oswego County.
“Playing For Poverty is about both raising awareness of a very real problem and working toward a solution. Now through the end of August we will be accepting cash donations and non-perishable food items for area food pantries, as well as raffle items to be used the day of the event,†she said.
Robinson added that while the committee is still in the early stages of planning and promoting the event, they are offering sponsorships at a variety of levels to area businesses and organizations that would like to be a part of this worthwhile community event.
“This will be a fun, family friendly event,†said Robinson. “It is a wonderful opportunity for the community to enjoy a day of music and food while coming together to help improve the quality of life for others.â€
