Tour De Loop 30/50 Mile Bike Race Set For August 22

Oswego –The Oswego YMCA is gearing up for the Tour de Loop Bike Race a 30/50 mile cycle event which takes place in Oswego and Cayuga County on Saturday, August 22, 2009 and will start promptly at 8:30 am. The Tour de Loop is sponsored by Murdock’s, Rudy’s, Ontario Orchards, Ontario Metal Fabricators, and the Onondaga Cycling club. This event is open to racers of any caliber, male or female age 15 and up, the start location is right out at Rudy’s.

There are two events, the expert of “A” race, a 50 mile ride, in order to participate in this category you must have previous racing experience with large packs of riders, maintain a 25 mph average speed and you must have a riding average of 150 miles per week. All “B”, sport riders, must either have a finish time of 1:20:00 or under. Both races cross from Oswego County into Cayuga County and loop back to end at Rudy’s followed by refreshments, live entertainment and an awards ceremony following the race.

Awards for the “A” riders are as follows; plaques to the top three male and female overall finishers and medals to males 4th-10th place and females 4th and 5th place. Awards for the “B” riders are as follows; Plaques to the top three male and female overall finishers. Medals to males 1st—5th place and females 1st– 3rd place in each age divisions; 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and up.

This course, which originates on the shores of Lake Ontario features rolling hills and sharp turns as it winds its way across the scenic upstate countryside.

The Tour de Loop is a very well attended race with an upwards of 200 riders and 100 volunteers who are on the course to ensure the safety of all riders.
