Think the NBC show “America’s Got Talent†features some interesting talented people on their show? Well, Fairgrieve Elementary’s very own “Fairgrieve’s Got Talent†has some equally interesting talented individuals as well. Travis Catherman is proof of that fact. Recently, the 5th grader was the featured talent in the first ever “Fairgrieve’s Got Talent†which will feature unique talented individuals and groups that are currently enrolled in the school. Travis gave a presentation on many aspects of skateboarding including repair and maintenance as well as several tricks that he can perform on the skateboard.
One of the key components of this month’s featured talent was the tie-in with the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) in the district. For Catherman, Respect and Responsibility go hand-in-hand with skateboarding, noting, if you don’t take responsibility and respect others’ property, then people would not want you to skateboard in their area. He also pointed to the safety equipment which is used during the sport saying that by using the helmet and safety pads he practices both safety and responsibility.
The talent shows are coordinated by Vince Markowsky, Fairgrieve’s School Home Liaison. Each month a new featured talent will be exhibited during Morning Express at the school. For additional information about the “Fairgrieve’s Got Talent†program, contact Markowsky at Fairgrieve Elementary School.
