OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Public Library will host a special event on Sept. 11, a celebration of the Underground Railroad in Oswego County.

The program will start at 11:45 a.m. with the unveiling and dedication of the Underground Railroad Historic Interpretive Panel on East First Street on the west side of the library.
At 12:30 p.m., the luncheon program features acclaimed storyteller, Vanessa Johnson, and renowned historian, Dr. Judith Wellman, SUNY Oswego Emerita Professor of local history.
Tickets cost $30 per person for the luncheon and raffle.
For those unable to attend, raffle tickets are available for $10.
All funds raised from the luncheon will support the library’s new Local History Room where special collections of choice Oswego history and collectibles along with writings from Oswego’s noteworthy authors will be archived.
The Celebration of the Underground Railroad in Oswego County is made possible with a special grant from Pathfinder Bank.
