OSWEGO, NY – We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who lent their support to the United Way’s Annual Stone Soup Luncheon. The event was a perfect example of the United Way’s ‘Live United’ concept as the community came together to help our area food pantries.
We would especially like to thank the Oswego Lions Club for its generous donation of $500 to Oswego County’s food pantries; the caring businesses who donated the food for our delicious luncheon, The American Foundry, Canale’s Restaurant, Vona’s Restaurant, C’s Farms, Bosco & Geers, Davis Bros., Tim Horton’s, Cakes Galore, and SUNY Oswego Auxiliary Services; and those who donated door prizes, Pat Benjamin, Patz on the River, Key Bank, Queenie O’Neil-Sands and the Central Square Wal-Mart.
We would also like to thank the many businesses who donated food or hosted food drives; Oswego Health, 24-Hour Record Retriever & Abstract, Inc., Oswego Wal-Mart, Oswego Price Chopper, Paul’s Big M, and Giovanni Foods; our dedicated volunteers, Dan Hoefer, Bernie Henderson, Coach Diane Dillon and members of the SUNY Oswego Laker Women’s Ice Hockey Team, Laree Pease, O’Neil-Sands, Amanda Race and Marion Ciciarelli, our committee members; chair Jim Mahoney, Shawn Seale, Helen Hoefer, and Benjamin, who helped prepare, serve and clean-up after the event which was graciously hosted by St. Joseph’s Church in its parish center.
Their desire to support our local food pantries is a wonderful expression of dedication to their community, their concern for others and their willingness to ‘Live United.’
Our Stone Soup Luncheon raised more than $1,070 and collected dozens of boxes of non-perishable foods for food pantries at the Oswego and Fulton Salvation Army, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Human Concerns, and the Oswego County Mental Health Association.
Thank you for being a part of our fifth annual Stone Soup Luncheon.
It was great to see the smiles on familiar faces and first timers as they brought in their food donations.
