I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who lent their support to the United Way’s second annual Stone Soup Too Luncheon held recently at Holy Trinity Parish in Fulton.
From the large amount of people who attended, to the many businesses and organizations that helped make the event possible, our Stone Soup Too Luncheon was a perfect example of the United Way’s ‘Live United’ concept as the community came together to show their support for the United Way and help our area food pantries.
I would especially like to thank Mimi’s, Blue Moon Grill, and The Foursome Dinner for providing our soups; Dunkin’ Donuts for the ‘Boxes of Joe’; C’s Farms and Davis Brothers for our salad fixings; Red Baron who provided the rolls; Kathy’s Cakes, Joe’s Corner Market, Foursome Diner, and Springside at Seneca Hill for donating our delicious desserts; and Struppler’s Shurfine Market for contributing to our food drive.
Our Stone Soup Luncheon would not have been possible if not for the efforts of our committee members; Jo-Lynn Phillips and Stephanie Langdon of Oswego County Opportunities; Janet Rebeor of the city of Fulton Community Development Agency; Gina Camardello of the Fulton branch of Key Bank; Steve Chirello of Chirello Advertising; Karen Hubel of Blue Moon Grill; Lori Lyons and Michele Sherman of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Fulton; Jonathan Gilmore and Helen Hoefer of Catholic Charities of Oswego County; Cathy Trowbridge of the city of Fulton; Sue Witmer of Cayuga Community College, and Judy Young, along with a dedicated group of volunteers including Cassie Chilson, Michelle Rook, Eric Norrison, Erica Hughes, and Cathy Sipling of Cayuga Community College; Shelayna Snow of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Fulton; and Fulton councilman Jay Foster who helped prepare, serve and clean up after the event which was graciously hosted by Holy Trinity Parish.
Their desire to support the United Way of Greater Oswego County is a wonderful expression of their dedication to their community, their concern for others and their willingness to ‘Live United.’
Thanks to the support we received from community members who attended and the generous donations of $866 from Frontier Communications, $500 from the Fulton Lions Club, $50 from the Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club, and the $100 raised during our food drive at Wal-Mart in Fulton, our second annual Stone Soup Too Luncheon raised more than $2,000 for food pantries in Oswego County.
