OSWEGO, NY – United Way board member Jim Mahoney announced plans are set for the United Way’s Annual Stone Soup Luncheon.
Open to the public, the luncheon will be held Nov. 18 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Parish Center on West First Street.
For a $5 donation, attendees will enjoy a tasty lunch featuring delicious homemade soups from Canale’s Restaurant, Vona’s Restaurant, and the American Foundry; salad courtesy of C’s Farms, fresh baked rolls from Bosco & Geers; desserts from Cakes Galore and SUNY Oswego Auxiliary Services; and fresh brewed hot coffee from Tim Horton’s.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to food pantries throughout Oswego County.
Mahoney, who is serving as committee chair, is looking forward to a festive holiday event that will provide some much needed help for our area food pantries.
“With the increased demand that our food pantries will be facing this holiday season we are hoping that our Stone Soup Luncheon will help them meet that demand,” said Mahoney. “In addition to the $5 donation we are asking attendees to please bring non-perishable food items that we can give to the food pantries as well so that the food pantries can keep their shelves stocked throughout the holidays.”
In addition to the luncheon, the United Way will be placing donation boxes at various locations including Wal-Mart in Oswego, Oswego Health and the Oswego Price Chopper.
Food donations will be collected through Nov. 20 and distributed to food pantries at the Human Concerns Center and the Oswego Salvation Army.
