OSWEGO – The CNY Erie Canal Chapter of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America recently visited Oswego County as part of a week-long tour along Lake Ontario.
AN INTRODUCTION TO FORT ONTARIO – Caroline Lamie, office manager of Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego, welcomed members of the CNY Erie Canal Chapter of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America during their recent stop. The group explored various buildings and exhibits to learn the fascinating role the fort played in U.S. history. Members hail from all over the Northeast and even included those from a California chapter and a former member back in the U.S. from Australia.
The Minetto Volunteer Fire Company hosted the group for a chicken barbeque following a performance by the New Horizons band and chorus.

UN-“LOCK”-ING THE PAST – Visitors from across the Northeast recently came to the H. Lee White Maritime Museum in Oswego as part of a lakeside tour. Volunteer docent Mary Anne Hogan met with members of the CNY Erie Canal Chapter of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America to interpret exhibits aboard Derrick Boat No. 8, “The Lance Knapp,” the last steam-powered barge to work on the old New York State Barge Canal.
