Where In the World is Port City Theatre?

After a short hiatus, Port City Theatre is on the move again with another performance of “John, His Story” on Sunday, August 17th at 1pm at the Fulton Alliance Church on Rt. 48 in Fulton. The performance is open to the public. In lieu of tickets, the audience will be asked to pay what they can at the conclusion of the performance – with a suggested ticket price of $10.

Written by actress-playwright Jeannette Clift George and premiered by the A.D. Players, a faith-based Christian theatre company in Houston, John, His Story enjoyed a successful off-Broadway run in 1997 at NYC’s Lamb’s Theatre. The play has toured internationally receiving critical acclaim in productions across the country and continues to entertain audiences around CNY with more locations scheduled in the fall.

John, His Story is a remarkably dynamic play that offers a contemporary view of the miracles recorded in the Gospel of John. Not the least bit “preachy”, ordinary by-standers who witnessed the events give us an incredibly human perspective on the impact of Jesus and his ministry. While the character list for this play is about 25, they are all brought to life by four actors, some costume accessory changes, and a few props. John, His Story delivers audiences a message of hope with humor and passion… familiar stories made new and fresh as they’ve never been heard before.

The popular play opened Port City Theatre’s 2007 season and tours with original actors Beth DeRousie, and Kristin Cook, joined by Robert Fontana and Larry Eason. Other productions from Oswego’s newest family theatre included The Guys, In His Steps, Godspell, Anne Frank And Me, I Do! I Do! and The Orphan Train.

Due to the recent unexpected death of William Fox, Director Nancy Fox’s husband,  mainstage productions have been temporarily suspended. However, John, His Story is available for booking by calling Fox at 598-8812 or Molly Martin at 947-5083.
