Jay Willer of Penfield, a senior at SUNY Oswego, is working as an intern this summer at Eastern Shore Associates Insurance (ESA) in Fulton, it was announced by Martha Murray, agency president.
Willer, a risk management and insurance major who will be graduated in May 2013, is working primarily with commercial insurance department, Murray said. “Jay is working with producers and customer service representatives to learn the intricacies of their positions.”
Willer said that this is a relatively new area of study at Oswego: “I saw this field as having more opportunities than earning a business degree alone,” he said. “I also like working with mathematics and statistics, and I enjoy the actuarial aspects of the industry.
“ESA has been a fascinating place to work. I’ve been able to learn things that aren’t in any textbook or classroom lecture. That experience and knowledge is priceless as I enter my senior year and prepare to enter the job market.”
