OSWEGO, NY– On Monday, September 28, SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations (OBCR) and the Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training (WNET) will gather women from across New York State for “Connections,” a day-long conference to be held in the Sheldon Hall ballroom on the SUNY Oswego campus from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Among the featured speakers for the event will be Diane Dillon, Head Coach of the Oswego State Lakers. Dillon, a native of Tonawanda, NY, completed five seasons as an assistant coach for the Division I Cornell University women’s hockey team prior to being named the head coach at Oswego State in 2006. Dillon garnered ECAC West Coach of the Year honors following her first year at the helm at Oswego State and in the third year, earned a spot in the playoffs for the first time in the team’s history. Dillon begins her fourth year as head coach of the 2009-2010 Lakers.

A 1983 graduate of Cornell, Dillon is one of the most prominent players in the program’s long and storied history. She was a team MVP in her freshman year and served as the team captain for three years, helping the Big Red capture Ivy League championships in 1979 and 1980.

Prior to joining the collegiate coaching ranks at Cornell, Dillon worked for Federated Department Stores. Her retail career included being a buyer for San Francisco based Macy’s, serving as a computer retail systems trainer in Hong Kong, and developing executive buyer training and leadership programs at Federated Corporate in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“With Dillon’s experience coaching young women right here at SUNY Oswego, she will be a tremendous addition to the other great speakers we have coming this year,” said Nancy Bellow, OBCR executive director.]
