OSWEGO, NY – Twenty four men and women took part in what has become Young Life of Oswego County’s largest fundraiser.
On June 5, Young Life held its 8th annual Golf Marathon at Springbrook Greens State Golf Course.
For this marathon, the men played three 18-hole rounds of golf totaling about 10 hours of playing time. The women played one 18-hole round.
This year, the golfers raised $15,000 for Young Life’s mission to reach the youth of Oswego County with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Since this international ministry began in 1940, Young Life leaders have cared enough about kids to leave the comfort of their adult world and enter the adolescent world.
You will find Young Life leaders in the stands at football games, playing Frisbee with kids in the park, driving carloads of kids around town or tutoring students after school.
In fact, you will find them almost anywhere you can find kids.
Young Life leaders strive to build friendships with teens that model trust, respect, responsibility and work hard to communicate their unconditional care in ways kids can understand.
“Our young people today are waiting for somebody to care about them enough to take the time and trouble to pour out compassion on them, to prove their friendship, to bridge this tragic and terrible gap that exists in our culture between teenagers and adults,” Jim Rayburn, Young Life founder.
Young Life of Oswego County is working hard to help bridge this gap and spread the ultimate message of hope to area teens.
