OSWEGO, NY – Several familiar faces to Oswego audiences have roles in Inez Manor Parker’s February presentation of Dame Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap.”
Nelson Metz, Sherri Baker and Tammy Wilkinson were most recently seen in Parker’s “Play On” last fall at the Church of the Resurrection.
Metz appeared as “Trotter” in the last incarnation of “The Mousetrap” 13 years ago on the Players’ stage.
This time around he will be bringing his unique perspective to the character of “Paravincini.”
Metz has tons of experience and is always a delight to watch.
Baker, another extremely experienced actress, has the role of “Molly,” mistress of the eerie Monkswell Manor Guest House, which comprises the setting for this tale of mystery and intrigue.
Baker also has an intensive musical background, which she demonstrated very capably as the mother in Parker’s very successful summer musical, “Meet Me in St. Louis” in 2009.
Versatile Wilkinson plays “Miss Casewell,” a rather masculine female character created by Dame Christie for “Mousetrap.”
She most recently starred in the spooky “Hound of the Baskervilles,” and stepped in, literally at the last minute, and joined the cast of “Play On” when the actress originally cast had a family emergency and needed to drop out.
Wilkinson didn’t hesitate to take on the part, despite the pressure of learning the lines as well as the split second timing needed for the show to move along as written.
“The Mousetrap” was first performed in England in 1947 and starred Richard Attenborough and his wife, Sheila Sim.
For a “little radio show” without much expectation, it has been seen by more than 10 million people world-wide and translated into more than 20 languages.
No wonder it still has the power to enthrall audiences everywhere.
Other members of the cast include Chris and Dale Bixler, Jonathan Altman, Bobby Fontana and Steve Standish.
Show dates are Feb. 18 and 19; 25 and 26 at 8 p.m., with a matinee on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
