The Oswego Film Group, in collaboration with SUNY Oswego’s Economics Department, presents a free screening of Margin Call on Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the college’s Campus Center.

The 2011 film “is an entangling thriller involving the key players at an investment firm during one perilous 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. When an entry-level analyst unlocks information that could prove to be the downfall of the firm, a roller-coaster ride ensues as decisions both financial and moral catapult the lives of all involved to the brink of disaster” (from the film’s website).
The film, the first feature by writer and director J.C. Chandor, boasts a stellar cast that includes Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Simon Baker, Demi Moore, and Stanley Tucci.
The New Yorker film critic David Denby declared Margin Call “one of the strongest American films of the year and easily the best Wall Street movie ever made.”
The film is rated R (for language) and runs 109 minutes.
