OSWEGO, NY – The Harborfest Children’s Committee will be presenting the musical “In Quest of Columbus†for the 21st edition of the festival.
The musical serves to highlight this year’s cultural component the Caribbean Islands.
The cultural component has played an integral role in the festival since its inception in 1999.
This provides the local youth an opportunity to expand their horizons and explore the world without ever having to leave the Oswego Harbor.
The musical journey of “In Quest of Columbus†will be presented under the direction of Bobbie Palange and Rocky Farden on the Children’s Stage at Breitbeck Park on July 24 at noon, followed by performances on July 25 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., then July 26 at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Of the production, Farden and Palange both agree, these students have lots of talent and energy, working with them has been a joy.
The cast of this talented ensemble is comprised of students spanning the Oswego County area that have been rehearsing since May.
Cast members: Haley Baker, Steve Bosco, Ben, David, John, Caroline and Rebecca Chatterton, Austin and Janica Clark, Samantha Davis, Olivia DeLorenzo, Victoria Fix, Mark Forger, Marina Garbus, Catie Geroux, Jessica and Rachel Godden, Laura Godden, Alivia Grimshaw, Justin Grower, Taylor Hamer, Emily Hurlbutt, Trista Norris, Bryce Phillips, Zemiah Phrance, Madison Pyler, Regan Siver, Becca Smith, Tara Stacy, and Brandon Tice have each given first mate efforts to sail this musical into the Port City.
The crew members: set designer Stephen Braun; accompanist Sue Maxwell; and costume designer Becky Mattix have also raised their sails and efforts to support this voyage by sea to bring a musical quest to Harborfest for all to enjoy.
The musical was made possible by a grant from the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
With the Route 104 Bridge closed for repair this summer, be sure to plan accordingly so that you don’t miss the events you want to see.
The Utica Street Bridge will be open as will the pedestrian walking bridge located just north of Utica Street.
